About The Role

We're hiring an FP&A Analyst / Business Partner to help lead the shift in our finance function from reporting what happened to shaping what happens next. You'll own core reporting, sit at the centre of our budget and reforecast cycles, and be the finance partner our Regional Directors call when they need actionable answers.

What we’re building and why

UK schools spend over £2 billion a year on temporary staff, with £600m going to recruitment agencies. Zen Educate is an online platform that gives schools instant access to fully vetted teachers and support staff. Since launching in 2017, we’ve saved schools over £30 million. We've just closed a $37m Series B and are scaling fast in the UK and the US.

What this role looks like in practice

  • Reporting that people trust: Own a core set of weekly and monthly management reports end to end. Make reports faster, more consistent, and more automated each cycle.
  • Planning and forecasting: Play a central role in our annual budget and termly reforecasts. Build and maintain driver-based models for revenue, headcount, and costs.
  • Business partnering and strategy: Act as a finance partner to our Regional Directors, joining monthly performance reviews and helping them understand their numbers.
  • Systems, data and efficiency: Make our finance stack work harder. Reconcile data across systems and automate processes.

What we're looking for

  • Commercial curiosity: A genuine interest in the core drivers of the business.
  • Attention to detail: Notice when a number looks wrong and investigate.
  • Analytical rigour: Structure problems before solving them and explain the logic behind your models.
  • Clear communicator: Turn analysis into concise messages for non-finance audiences.
  • Proactive ownership: Take full responsibility for delivering outcomes.
  • Systems and efficiency enthusiast: Prefer automating tasks over manual work.

Experience we need:

  • 3+ years in FP&A, strategic finance, or business analysis.
  • Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills.
  • A degree in a numerate subject or an accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
  • Experience in a high-growth, fast-paced organisation.

What’s in it for you?

  • Competitive salary + ownership in the company.
  • 18 days holiday + 11 paid company holidays.
  • Meaningful work that helps schools save money.
  • 1-1 coaching for personal and professional growth.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Direct mentorship from the Head of FP&A.

Hiring Process

  • Initial chat with our Talent team.
  • Hiring manager call with our Head of FP&A.
  • Modelling and analysis task based on a realistic scenario.
  • Values-based conversation with a leadership team member.

Diversity and Inclusion

At Zen, we strive to build a culture of equity and inclusion. We welcome applicants with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
