The Grant Management Consultant will work collaboratively across Program & Policy (P&P), the World Vision Partnership, and with Field Offices, Regional Offices, and the Global Centre to support delivery against P&P’s three strategic priorities: Impact, Income, and Influence. The Consultant will provide end-to-end grant management expertise to optimize resources, strengthen delivery quality, and ensure institutional donor-funded projects are implemented in line with approved project design documents, donor agreements, and World Vision standards. This includes providing technical guidance, monitoring and evaluation support, and strategic oversight throughout the grant lifecycle.

The Consultant will serve as a subject-matter expert for assigned grants and relevant geographic, management and/or technical areas, synthesizing and communicating project progress, results, risks, and learning to a range of internal and external stakeholders. They will work alongside peer consultants and internal teams to coordinate workloads, troubleshoot challenges, and contribute to communities of practice and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide grant management and advisory support to ensure high-quality execution, effective risk management, delivery of intended outcomes, and fulfillment of donor commitments and contractual obligations.
  • Oversee implementation progress to ensure results and donor reports are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with institutional donor requirements.
  • Design and operationalize reporting and learning processes that communicate results clearly and incorporate lessons learned to strengthen ongoing and future grant implementation.
  • Apply Results-Based Management (RBM) approaches and tools to track progress against objectives, outputs, and outcomes.
  • Coordinate and/or contribute to key grant deliverables, including project start-up workshops, partner agreements, workplans, donor reports, annual reviews, evaluations, and project close-out activities.
  • Support knowledge management and learning by documenting and sharing project achievements and insights through partnership meetings, donor engagement, academic forums, and print and digital communications.
  • In collaboration with WVC MEAL and technical specialists, provide technical support for assessments, surveys, evaluations, and the establishment of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems.
  • Work closely with the Grant Finance Officer and WVC Legal team to support the preparation, review, and negotiation of donor contracts and amendments.
  • In collaboration with Program Finance, monitor project financial performance, including expenditures, cash flow, recovery of overheads, financial risks, and funding timelines, and flag risks or issues requiring corrective action.

Qualifications

  • University degree in international development, community/social development, business development, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of demonstrated experience managing or advising on institutional donor-funded international grants and projects.
  • Strong experience applying Results-Based Management approaches and designing or supporting Monitoring & Evaluation systems.
  • Proven experience supporting or coordinating remote, cross-functional, and cross-cultural teams delivering development projects.
  • Experience engaging with academic and/or research partners is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information clearly for diverse audiences.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in reviewing project documentation and providing high-quality technical feedback.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across organizational boundaries and cultures to support alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple streams of work simultaneously with sound judgment, initiative, and confidence.
  • Availability and willingness to travel internationally as required (approximately once per year), including to higher-risk environments.

Why Consider Us?

World Vision Canada has consistently been awarded Canada and GTA top employer awards. We are Canada’s largest development, relief, and advocacy non-profit organization. We embody an Agile mindset here.

Nature of the Engagement

This is a consulting engagement, and the successful candidate will operate as an independent contractor or consultant. Specific deliverables, timelines, level of effort, and engagement duration will be defined in a contract or terms of reference. This posting is to establish a pre-qualified consultant talent pool for grant-funded work. It is not an active role and does not represent an immediate contract or employment opportunity. We are proactively identifying independent consultants who may be engaged on a contract basis should grant funding be approved.

We bring life-saving support in times of disaster. We help poor communities to take charge of their futures. We provide small loans and training that boost family livelihoods. We work with policy makers to change the way the world is run. Our Christian faith teaches us that every child, regardless of gender, faith or race, is a precious gift to the entire world - and that their wellbeing concerns us all. We shall never rest while children suffer in situations that can be changed.
