Overview: Are you an experienced strategy professional or management consultant looking to make a meaningful impact? We are seeking a Senior Strategy Advisor within the Office of Strategy Management to serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, helping shape enterprise strategy, evaluate strategic priorities, and support evidence-based decision-making. In this role, you'll lead strategic analysis and assurance activities, critically evaluate business plans and initiatives, and synthesize research, data, and performance insights into actionable recommendations. You'll work collaboratively across the organization to identify risks and opportunities, challenge assumptions, and develop high-quality materials that support informed decision-making.

How you’ll make a difference: You’ll guide the strategies that ensure we best serve B.C.’s workers and employers. Working at WorkSafeBC, we serve the workers and employers across B.C., and we do that best when we're together. It's how we collaborate, learn from one another, and develop our people. This role combines time in our offices with flexibility for remote work.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the development of strategic analysis, executive-level reports, presentations, and recommendations to support decision-making by senior management, the Enterprise Leadership Team (ELT), and the Board of Directors (BOD).
  • Conduct a variety of research and information gathering, interpreting data, formulating conclusions, and evaluating various sources while creating viable strategies dependent on findings.
  • Lead strategic assurance activities by assessing the alignment, value, feasibility, risks, and expected outcomes of enterprise strategies and initiatives, identifying gaps and providing recommendations to strengthen decision-making.
  • Provide leadership and expertise in strategic business planning processes, taking a lead role on initiatives while involving appropriate business partners as required.
  • Provide advice and guidance on strategic planning projects, including conducting scenario-analysis, business case feasibility analysis, and impact assessments for initiatives, creating proposals, writing recommendations, and analysis/assessment of project viability.
  • Analyze enterprise performance and collaborate with business leaders to develop meaningful performance and outcome measures, assess progress against strategic priorities, and identify emerging risks and areas requiring management attention.
  • Provide leadership and support in evaluating the impacts of legislative, policy, and regulatory changes by developing robust measurement approaches, assessing their effectiveness, and generating reports to inform stakeholders.
  • Consistently model the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward-thinking.

Is this a good fit for you? We’re looking for someone who can:

  • Foster teamwork and collaboration in achieving business objectives and departmental priorities.
  • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills in developing and delivering high-quality presentations to senior management and stakeholders on critical issues, priorities, and initiatives.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the field of business strategy, innovation, business analytics, and business improvement methodologies.
  • Demonstrate exceptional critical thinking and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently evaluate complex information, challenge assumptions, and develop defensible, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain working knowledge of organizational business processes, information systems applications, and their interdependencies.
  • Apply strong interpersonal and leadership skills to provide direction and guidance for effective project planning, coordination, and monitoring.
  • Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with various variables including constant change and tight timeframes.

Your background and experience:

  • A master’s degree in business administration or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, strategic assurance, enterprise performance management, or a related analytical advisory function, including experience leading complex assessments and developing recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging analytical and digital tools, such as Excel, Power BI, Python, or equivalent technologies, to conduct analysis, streamline processes, and support evidence-based decision-making.
  • A Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, or a Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) designation is an asset. We’ll consider an equivalent combination of education and experience.
