About the Opportunity

Our client, a machine shop located in Bradford West Gwillimbury, Ontario, is seeking an experienced and motivated CNC Programmer and Operator specializing in CNC milling machines to join their team. This is a part-time temporary opportunity requiring 2–3 days of work per week, with the potential to transition into a permanent position. The ideal candidate will have strong CNC milling programming and operating experience and be comfortable managing machining tasks independently in a machine shop environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Create, modify, and edit CNC milling programs using Mastercam 9 or Autodesk Fusion.
• Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and machining specifications.
• Set up workpieces and cutting tools in CNC milling machines.
• Select, load, and organize the appropriate tools in the machine's tool carousel.
• Operate and monitor CNC milling machines while programs are running, ensuring accurate and efficient production.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary program adjustments to maintain quality and accuracy.
• Ensure CNC machines and equipment are operated safely and efficiently.
• Clean CNC milling machines and maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
• Safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Use crane equipment and appropriate lifting accessories to handle steel blocks weighing more than 50 lbs.
• Follow all workplace safety procedures and maintain high standards of workmanship.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of verifiable hands-on experience as a CNC Programmer and Operator, specifically working with CNC milling machines.
• Proven experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling machines.
• Proficiency with Mastercam 9 or Autodesk Fusion for CNC programming.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, and CNC machine setup.
• Ability to work independently in a machine shop environment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to safely lift materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable using crane equipment and lifting accessories to handle heavier materials.
• Must be available to work 2–3 days per week, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Must be able to commute to Bradford West Gwillimbury, Ontario.

Assets

• Machinist certification or a diploma in a related field.
• Crane training and certification.
• Familiarity with KeyCreator software.
• Additional experience with CNC programming software and machining applications.
