Lead enterprise database reliability at WestJet with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server expertise across secure, high-performing platforms and on-call operations. Support critical business outcomes through dependable database services. As a Senior Database Administrator, you will provide technical leadership across Oracle, IBM Db2, Microsoft SQL Server, and Azure SQL Database. The position emphasizes availability, performance, security, resilience, recoverability, and operational excellence. You will mentor intermediate and junior DBAs while collaborating across application, infrastructure, cloud, DevOps, architecture, and cybersecurity teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support enterprise database platforms and maintain availability, performance, security, and recoverability
- Lead tuning, capacity planning, patching, upgrades, controls, and automation initiatives
- Manage access controls, permissions, auditing, and vulnerability remediation
- Resolve complex incidents through root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Mentor DBAs and partner on deployments, migrations, and modernization
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and seven-plus years of database administration experience
- Advanced Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server administration experience
- Knowledge of RAC, ASM, RMAN, Data Guard, and multitenant databases
- SQL Server Always On, backup, recovery, and tuning experience
- Linux, Windows, scripting, automation, monitoring, and security expertise
