The Role:
The major responsibilities of this position include managing the complete employee benefit plan cycle, consisting of:
- designing plans which align with the client’s human resources objectives;
- determining the most appropriate funding strategies;
- financial analysis, estimating of costs and potential cost saving strategies;
- procuring the most appropriate benefit plan providers through competitive bid processes and negotiations;
- overseeing the implementation of benefit provider contracts and administrative arrangements;
- conducting anniversary renewal analysis, negotiating with providers and developing client recommendations;
- providing training and/or mentorship to benefit analysts and client staff;
- providing professional advice to resolve escalated claims, administrative or contractual issues;
- participating as a team member in the marketing of the Firm’s services to existing and prospective clients; and
- developing and maintaining harmonious and constructive relationships with clients and benefit providers.
Requirements:
- a post-secondary degree, preferably coupled with a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist designation;
- a minimum of seven years related industry experience, preferably in a consulting environment;
- good oral and written communication skills;
- Life Licensed in the Province of BC, or willing to become licensed;
- analytical and strong problem-solving skills; and
- ability to effectively work independently as well as within a collaborative team.
