Waypoint’s 1,300+ staff improve lives and bring hope to people living with mental illness and substance use issues. The Director, Finance & Procurement is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the stewardship and strategic deployment of Waypoint’s financial resources in support of its mission, strategic priorities, and long-term vision for excellence in mental health care. Accountable for financial planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, accounting and financial reporting, payroll, transactional finance, and procurement, the Director ensures the organization has the financial infrastructure, controls, and insights needed to make informed decisions and deliver high-quality care.
This is an opportunity to lead an established function while helping shape its future evolution. As Waypoint advances its organizational priorities and modernization efforts, the Director will strengthen financial processes, leverage data and technology to inform decision-making, and identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and efficiency. Working closely with clinical, operational, and corporate leaders, the Director will foster collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with broader public sector requirements and best practices.
Waypoint is seeking a collaborative, forward-thinking finance leader who combines strong technical expertise with a pragmatic, people-centred leadership style. The ideal candidate is a CPA-designated professional with broad experience across core finance functions, including financial planning and analysis, accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. Healthcare experience is an asset, but candidates from other complex environments – including the broader public sector, government, higher education, research institutions, and select private sector organizations – will also be considered, particularly those who bring fresh perspectives and leading practices.
An effective relationship builder and trusted business partner, the successful candidate is comfortable navigating complex organizational environments and leading teams through change. They bring experience leveraging financial systems, data analytics, and process improvement to strengthen organizational performance and inform decision-making. Resourceful and solutions-oriented, they challenge established approaches and advance modernization and efficiency initiatives while maintaining operational discipline, accountability, and service delivery. Balancing strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, they work independently while building trust, engaging teams, and fostering collaboration across the organization.
Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is an equal opportunity employer. In accordance with the Accessible Canada Act, 2019 and all applicable provincial accessibility standards, upon request, accommodation will be provided throughout the recruitment, selection and/or assessment process to applicants with disabilities.
