Walmart Canada is seeking a Senior Counsel to provide strategic legal support across advertising, consumer protection, ecommerce, and regulatory matters. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel, this role involves partnering with business leaders in a fast-paced retail environment to advise on customer-facing initiatives, marketing campaigns, and complex regulatory issues.
Key Eligibility Criteria
- LLB/JD and membership in good standing with a Canadian law society.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of corporate/commercial/regulatory experience in an in-house legal department and/or leading law firm.
- Strong experience advising on advertising, marketing, consumer protection, ecommerce, and/or regulatory compliance.
- Experience in retail, consumer-facing, technology, or digital commerce businesses is an asset.
- Experience with privacy, CASL, and data governance is an asset.
Responsibilities & Scope of Work
- Provide practical legal advice on marketing, consumer protection, privacy, and ecommerce regulations.
- Advise on advertising campaigns, influencer/social media initiatives, pricing, and disclosure practices.
- Negotiate strategic commercial agreements including marketing, technology, SaaS, data, and vendor contracts.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise on emerging risks in retail and ecommerce.
- Manage external counsel and contribute to scalable legal processes and operational efficiencies.
