Whatistheproject?
ThePickeringNuclearGeneratingStationrefurbishmentprograminvolvesdesigningandbuildinganewdeep-waterintakeinLakeOntariotoimprovetheplant'scoolingsystem.Thiswillinvolve:
A1.5km-longtunnel,builtbyapressurizedTBM(10.5mdiameterslurryTBM);
Twoverticalshafts(onshoreandoffshore);
Anoffshoremodularintakestructure,restingonthelakebed.
Whatyouwilldo:
Theprojectisdistinguishedbyitsproximitytoanactivenuclearsite,requiringrigorousstandardsofsafety,planningandcoordination.
Concretely,yourtaskswillbe:
- SupportedprojectteamsintheimplementationandcontinuousimprovementoftheEnvironmentalManagementSystem;
- Coordinatedenvironmentaldocumentation,permits,monitoringprograms,andregulatorycomplianceactivitieswithconsultants,designers,constructionteams,andstakeholders;
- Ledenvironmentalriskassessmentsduringdesignandconstructionphases,identifyingimpactsandimplementingmitigationmeasurestominimizeenvironmentalfootprint;
- Oversawenvironmentalmonitoringprograms(noise,vibration,dust,emissions,waterquality)andensuredcompliancewithprojectrequirementsandregulatorythresholds;
- Conductedsiteinspections,audits,trainingsessions,andawarenessprogramstopromoteenvironmentalbestpracticesandcomplianceacrosstheproject;
- Managedenvironmentalnon-conformities,correctiveactions,andcontinuousimprovementinitiatives,ensuringeffectiveresolutionandcommunicationoflessonslearned;
- Actedastheprimaryenvironmentalpointofcontactonsite,supportingprojectmanagementwithenvironmentalreporting,reviews,presentations,andstakeholderengagement;
- ContributedtoQHSEperformancethroughparticipationinaudits,managementreviews,processimprovementinitiatives,andcross-functionalcoordination.
Yourskills:
Abachelor'sdegreewithspecializationinplanning,environmentalplanning,environmentalassessment,geographyoranotherrelateddisciplineAtleast6yearsofexperienceinanenvironmentalroleExperiencewiththeimplementationofenvironmentalmanagementsystemsKnowledgeofISO14001standardsandQHSEregulationsapplicabletolargeconstructionprojectsExperienceintunnelingorundergroundworksisanassetExperienceworkingonprojectswithhigh-riskenvironments(nuclear,offshore,orsimilar)isanassetExcellentcommunicationskills,bothwrittenandverbal
