Support urgent patient care overnight as a Registered Veterinary Technician at Downtown Animal Hospital in Kingston, using nursing and diagnostic skills. Work three days on, four days off.
This full-time RVT position supports veterinarians during urgent and emergency situations. You will provide nursing care, assist with examinations and procedures, monitor hospitalized patients, and communicate with clients. The hospital handles varied cases, including toxin exposures, seizures, diabetic crises, and emergency surgeries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide compassionate nursing care for urgent and emergency patients
- Assist veterinarians with diagnostics, treatments, and emergency procedures
- Monitor hospitalized patients and communicate condition changes
- Support emergency surgeries and perioperative recovery care
- Operate radiography, ultrasound, and laboratory diagnostic equipment
Requirements:
- Registered Veterinary Technician in good provincial regulatory standing
- Strong interest in urgent and emergency veterinary medicine
- Excellent technical, patient-care, and communication skills
- Calm, organized, and adaptable approach during emergencies
- Availability for full-time overnight, three-on, four-off scheduling
