Western Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Centre seeks two part-time ICU/ER Registered Veterinary Technologists. The position involves inpatient care, emergency triage, diagnostic support, anesthesia, monitoring, and client communication. You will work with board-certified specialists in referral medicine while caring for critically ill dogs and cats. Strong teamwork, compassion, communication, and critical thinking are essential for this hospital setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate treatments, diagnostic workups, and monitoring for hospitalized patients
- Assess ER patients and determine treatment priorities
- Assist DVMs with diagnostics, admissions, discharges, and treatments
- Administer anesthesia and support emergency procedure recovery
- Communicate regularly with clients and referring hospitals
Requirements:
- Registered Veterinary Technician registration in Alberta
- Experience providing general anesthesia and monitoring dogs and cats
- Strong technical skills caring for critically ill patients
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and client communication skills
- Ability to calculate drugs, infusions, and unit conversions
