As a Microbiology Technologist with Island Health, you will perform established microbiology laboratory procedures under a Supervisor or delegate. Your work supports the Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics and its commitment to high-quality laboratory services. The temporary full-time assignment includes rotating days off and evening shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform established microbiology laboratory procedures
- Analyse specimens to detect and identify bacteria
- Identify clinically significant organisms
- Operate related equipment and computerized information systems
- Demonstrate procedures to employees and students
Requirements:
- Graduate from a recognized Medical Laboratory Technology diploma program
- Hold relevant CAMLPR registration or CSMLS certification
- Complete recent microbiology courses or possess related experience
- Apply current microbiology testing techniques and procedures
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and families
