This regular full-time training opportunity prepares practicing Registered Nurses for Island Health's perinatal specialty department. After completing specialty training, successful staff move into a regular full-time rotation line within the trained specialty department. The position follows unit philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete theory and practicum specialty training
- Plan and provide direct nursing care
- Prioritize patient and staff safety
- Continuously improve quality and safety
- Work under the Nurse Manager or designate
Requirements:
- Practice as a registered RN with BCCNM registration
- Recent related medical and surgical experience
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Organize workload and set priorities
- Perform the position's physical duties
