Reporting to the Associate Director of the CD team at AbSPORU, the E-Learning Designer contributes to the development of digital learning resources for POR training. The position works within established project directions and collaborates with CD colleagues, subject matter experts, patient partners, and other AbSPORU teams. The role requires practical instructional design and technical development skills, independent professional judgment in selecting instructional and design approaches, completion of assigned tasks, and responsiveness to feedback and project timelines.

  • Instructional Design and Content Adaptation: Reviews existing course materials, presentations, recordings, and activities for adaptation into self‑paced learning. Organizes and refines content within established module outlines to improve clarity, progression, and suitability for independent learners. Applies adult learning and instructional design principles to develop learning activities aligned with established objectives. Develops scenarios, knowledge checks, and other interactive elements to promote engagement and understanding. Writes and edits content in plain language suited to learners with varied backgrounds, including patient partners.
  • E-Learning Module Development and Multimedia Production: Builds modules using Articulate 360 (Rise and Storyline) and Canvas LMS. Creates or edits graphics, audio, video, and other multimedia components as required. Integrates interactive activities, assessments, and supporting resources into the learning environment. Applies consistent formatting, navigation, accessibility, and usability practices and guidelines. Prepares and publishes approved e‑learning modules on designated platforms, ensuring appropriate configuration and functionality. Works with the Education Coordinator to support module release and address technical issues related to learning content. Maintains organized source files and editable assets for future updates.
  • Module Testing and Revisions: Tests module functionality, navigation, interactive components, assessments, and accessibility. Prepares draft modules for review by the subject matter experts, patient partners, the CD team, and other relevant stakeholders. Incorporates feedback and resolves identified content, design, and technical issues. Verifies revisions through follow‑up testing before final approval and publication. Contributes to identifying appropriate approaches for evaluating module effectiveness (e.g., learner feedback, module completion and assessment data), and implements improvements based on team discussions on module evaluation findings.
  • Project Coordination and Documentation: Participates in discussions to clarify requirements, priorities, and deliverables. Organizes assigned work to meet agreed timelines. Communicates progress, challenges, and support needs to the Associate Director and relevant team members. Maintains development documentation and develops reusable templates, a style guide, and maintenance documentation to enable the CD team to update modules after the term ends.
  • Cross‑Team Program Support: Provides operational and delivery support to CD team members during peak periods of major POR training programs and initiatives, as assigned. Participates in program activities to develop familiarity with POR training contexts, learner audiences, and their educational needs. Applies insights gained from program involvement to support the development of relevant and learner‑centered e‑learning resources.
