Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of IT, the Lead IT will be responsible for owning our global network and providing technical direction to a growing IT team. This is a hands-on individual contributor role responsible for our network and VPN modernization, advising our senior systems administrators on which technical path to take, and mentoring the team on the technical side. You will also drive our SSO rollout and the integration of AI into business-critical systems.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Own the network across our Vancouver, San Diego, and Dublin offices on our Cisco Meraki stack, and lead the evaluation and modernization of our remote access and network access architecture.
- Provide technical guidance to the IT team, advising senior systems administrators on network, architecture, and tooling decisions and supporting team members with technical questions and troubleshooting across networking, endpoint management, identity, and asset tracking.
- Drive the SSO integration roadmap across remaining applications, partnering with the platform owner to prioritize, sequence, and close out incomplete integrations.
- Improve the operational maturity of the IT service function: Leverage AI and emerging technologies to improve productivity, streamline workflows, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement while ensuring the responsible, secure, and compliant use of AI tools.
- Lead hands-on integration of AI capabilities into business critical IT systems and workflows, using AI-assisted approaches to draft configurations, automation and runbooks while independently validating outputs against security policy and actual system behaviour.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5–8 years of experience in IT operations, systems, or network administration, including at least 2 years in a senior technical role advising team members on technical decisions and troubleshooting complex issues.
- Clear, direct written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs to senior engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort owning ambiguous, cross-functional problems without an existing playbook.
- Coaching skills and the patience to build technical ownership in newer team members.
- Deep hands-on experience administering multi-site enterprise networks, including evaluating and rolling out modern VPN and zero-trust network access solutions such as mesh-based architectures.
- Strong technical background across networking, identity, and endpoint management, with the judgment to evaluate options and recommend a technical direction to senior administrators.
- Working knowledge of SSO and identity concepts (SAML, OIDC), plus experience building or improving change-management and documentation practices from a low baseline.
- Some experience with software procurement or vendor management, with in-house training to build the rest.
- Experience with the following tools/technology: Cisco Meraki networking, mesh VPN or zero-trust network access platforms, SSO and identity platforms (SAML, OIDC), endpoint management (Intune, Jamf, or equivalent), and ITSM tooling (Jira Service Management or similar).
- AI fluency: you build AI-assisted workflows into your own work, direct AI tools on real tasks, and verify their output with sound judgment before relying on it.
Nice to Have:
- Cloud fundamentals across AWS, Azure, or GCP, as our cloud footprint and the expertise we need in this area will grow from 2027 onward.
- ITIL Foundation or equivalent process certification.
- Hands-on experience with AI governance, such as acceptable-use policy and cost monitoring.
