The Town of Moosonee seeks a licensed Heavy Duty Mechanic for full-time permanent work within Public Works and Airport Operations. The position covers heavy trucks, engines, transmissions, air brakes, electrical controls, and computerized diagnostics. Independent work is required in a remote Northern environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair heavy municipal and airport equipment
- Troubleshoot engines, hydraulics, air brakes, and electrical controls
- Complete preventative maintenance, inspections, and component repairs
- Use diagnostic equipment, OEM software, manuals, and schematics
- Respond to field breakdowns and winter storm call-outs
Requirements:
- Hold Ontario 421A or 310T certification
- Demonstrated heavy diesel equipment and truck repair experience
- Understand hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, and diagnostics
- Read OEM service information and technical schematics
- Hold Ontario Class G; obtain DZ after hire
