Technical theatre leadership drives One Yellow Rabbit’s Big Secret Theatre operations in Calgary, covering production technology, maintenance, and venue safety. As a part-time Technical Director reporting to the Managing Director, you will lead technical elements at the Big Secret Theatre. The position works with artistic and production colleagues, manages casual crew, and supports Company activity. Your work spans theatre operations, equipment, staffing, renters, and events including the High Performance Rodeo. Key Responsibilities:
Oversee Big Secret Theatre operations, maintenance, storage, and occasional venues Lead event technology or supervise technicians during performances Schedule technical staff and maintain the current call list Manage equipment purchasing, rentals, inventory, and shared equipment Coordinate venue safety, landlord communications, reports, and renter support Requirements:
Technical theatre degree or equivalent professional theatre experience Knowledge of MacOS applications, lighting, sound, and digital technologies Theatre maintenance experience with lighting, audio, and specialized hardware Vectorworks or AutoCAD experience would be an asset Organized, proactive, collaborative, flexible, and detail-oriented working style Apply technical theatre, venue maintenance, equipment management, and safety coordination across One Yellow Rabbit’s Calgary operations.
