The Vimy Foundation is a national charitable organization based in Montreal, dedicated to remembering and bringing history to life. It raised $5 million, matched by the Government of Canada, to establish the Visitor Education Centre at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial and transformed four acres of farmland into Vimy Foundation Centennial Park, inaugurated on November 9, 2018.
The Foundation operates the Canadian Centre for the Great War, housing one of Canada’s most significant private collections of WWI artefacts. Through annual youth initiatives, including the Beaverbrook Vimy Prize, the Vimy Pilgrimage Award, and Vimy Inspires Tomorrow, it connects young Canadians with the battlefields of Europe and supports projects that bring the lessons of the past into their communities.
On April 9, 2027, Canada will commemorate the 110th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge with a major gathering in France, alongside complementary commemorative activities across Canada.
The Foundation is looking for a visionary Executive Director who will:
- Orchestrate Vimy 110
- Carry the Foundation’s voice to Veterans Affairs Canada, diplomats, regiments, and donors
- Grow philanthropy with a supportive Board
- Lead a small, committed team in a hybrid arrangement
You should be bilingual with experience leading a charitable, cultural, public-sector, or military organization. You must be comfortable engaging with diverse stakeholders and possess fundraising experience or the determination to build that expertise. A passion for the Vimy story and a desire to help shape its future are essential.
The Foundation offers a well-supported transition, working alongside the current Interim Executive Director and an engaged Board committed to fundraising and ensuring the next Executive Director's success. The role is based in the heart of Montreal, offering a lasting legacy and a historic milestone to bring to life from day one.
Deadline for applications: November 15, 2026.
