Lead civil operations with Sutherland Heavy Civil across British Columbia, focusing on project execution, process improvement, and operational performance. This semi-remote role requires frequent travel. As Director of Operations, you will provide leadership across civil construction, earthworks, mining, and infrastructure projects. Reporting to the VP, Operations, you will coordinate planning, resources, performance, systems, and team development. Contractor-side experience is central to this leadership mandate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead operational planning, forecasting, resource allocation, and performance management
- Support project teams across financial, safety, client, and operational objectives
- Implement scalable systems, processes, reporting structures, and best practices
- Monitor schedules, budgets, quality, safety targets, risks, and corrective actions
- Mentor operational leaders and lead organizational change initiatives
Requirements:
- 10+ years of progressive civil-operations leadership experience
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role
- Large-scale heavy civil, earthworks, mining, or infrastructure experience
- Contractor-side experience managing projects, teams, and operating locations
- Regular travel willingness and a valid driver's licence
- Bring contractor-side leadership, process improvement, and project performance expertise to Sutherland Heavy Civil's growing operations.
