This is a venture-backed, high-growth Canadian company building an AI platform for property and casualty insurance agencies and brokerages. Its products automate the core operational workflows that agencies depend on to service clients and grow. The approach combines deep domain knowledge of insurance systems and data with in-house models. The company is still early-stage and moves quickly. AI sits at the center of the product and of how the team works internally.
The Role
This is a senior, hands-on Full Stack Engineer role with real technical leadership attached. You'll lead a team building the customer-facing products that bring in revenue, and you'll own the technical direction, the architecture and the delivery. You'll also take a big part in hiring and mentoring. It suits a seasoned engineer who still wants to write code, wants to set the standard for an engineering culture as it grows, and is energized by how much faster AI-assisted development lets a team ship.
What You Will Do
- Lead the design and delivery of enterprise web products used daily by insurance professionals, from the React front end through to Python services and data stores.
- Set the technical roadmap for your product area, then document it clearly in design docs and architecture plans that product and business partners can follow.
- Own the security, scalability and long-term health of your team's systems on AWS, Docker and Kubernetes.
- Hire engineers, coach them through code review and pair programming, and help them grow technically and as leaders.
- Work closely with product, customer success and engineering leadership to turn customer problems into shipped, measurable outcomes.
What You Bring
- 10 to 15 years of software development experience, including shipping and running production systems at scale.
- A track record of designing complex architectures that span user interfaces, APIs, backends and databases.
- Strong hands-on skills in React/TypeScript and Python/Django, plus solid experience with PostgreSQL and DynamoDB.
- Practical experience with AWS, Docker and Kubernetes, and with setting up observability and product metrics across front end and back end.
- Comfort experimenting with new technology, high standards for quality, and a real interest in AI-driven development tools.
Why This Role
You'll own the technical direction of revenue-generating products at a company that is growing fast and is already well recognized in its market. Your work goes straight into AI products that change how a large, under-modernized industry runs day to day. You'll also help decide what engineering excellence looks like as the team scales. This is a role for someone who wants a lot of ownership, not a narrow slice of a big product.
