TekRek is partnered with a Canadian data and AI consultancy that builds enterprise data platforms for clients in the public sector and other regulated industries. This hire will be placed on a client engagement with one of Canada's largest banks, working inside the bank’s platform data engineering group.
The Role
This is a contract role through July 2027 for a data integration specialist. You'll own how new data sources get onto the bank’s central platform, from finding them to running them in production. You'll write Python to automate the routine work, and you'll be the person who keeps business, platform and support teams aligned. It suits someone who likes tracking down unclear data and is as comfortable leading a stakeholder conversation as writing a script.
What You Will Do
- Onboard new data sources to the platform, including the mappings, configurations, connectors and load processes that make the data consistent and usable.
- Find where upstream data comes from, work through the details with source system owners and application teams, and get each feed running reliably.
- Write and maintain Python automation for deployments, data loads and trade reprocessing, as well as reconciliation, alerting and system health checks.
- Test every change in the development and pre-production environments, using API calls, Dremio queries and log reviews before anything is released.
- Act as the main contact between business, platform and support teams, keeping progress, blockers and dependencies clear to everyone.
What You Bring
- 5+ years in data engineering, data integration or data operations.
- Strong Python scripting skills, used to automate operational and production workflows.
- Hands-on SQL, plus experience working with APIs, reading logs, and promoting changes through structured test and release environments. Dremio experience is a plus.
- A record of tracking down data owners and fixing unclear data issues without waiting to be told what to do.
- Availability to start right away. Exposure to capital markets or trade data is helpful but not required.
Why This Role
You'll have real ownership of the onboarding process, from finding a data source through to automating it and releasing it, while working inside one of Canada's major banks. You'll build hands-on experience with capital markets and trade data without needing a trading background. And because the contract starts right away and runs through July 2027, you get a clear, defined engagement in a role where communication and problem solving count as much as technical depth.
