Senior Systems Engineer I

We’re looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the design, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of business-critical systems and infrastructure that enable STEMCELL’s employees and customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and maintain cloud-based applications, tools and services on AWS supporting STEMCELL’s staff and customers.
• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of your tools and services, including responding to and debugging production issues across different cloud services, and taking proactive action to prevent future problems.
• Embed into corporate technology and project teams as a subject matter expert to design, deliver and maintain new systems or applications.
• Partner with other technology teams to develop and improve design and operating best-practices; Explore and advocate for new methods and technologies.
• Respond to emergencies and system failures including after-hours problems; lead troubleshooting and resolution of escalated issues.

Knowledge and Qualifications:

• A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent, plus 3+ years in DevOps/Systems Engineering building and running one or more large-scale web applications.
• AWS Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional) certified with hands-on expertise in systems administration and operations, including fluency across a number of infrastructure technologies including AWS, GCP, Active Directory, and Entra.
• Exposure or experience to automation or infrastructure-as-code technologies (Terraform, Python, CloudFormation) and an understanding of fundamental networking concepts DNS, DHCP, AWS VPC foundations, AWS security and traffic control, AWS scaling and hybrid connectivity.
• Excellent full-stack problem-solving skills, utilizing metrics, monitoring, and reporting to drive root-cause resolution and service reliability.
