Materials Handling Designer – Burnaby, BC

Our client, a leading Engineering Consulting firm, is seeking a skilled Materials Handling Designer to join their growing Burnaby team.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior engineering staff on the detailed design, 3D modelling, and drafting of mechanical and bulk materials handling systems.
- Develop both conceptual layouts and detailed designs, ranging from small maintenance upgrades (e. g., conveyor drives) to large terminal infrastructure.
- Produce clear and accurate 3D models and drawings for various stages of design, from feasibility to construction.
- Prepare quantity take-offs to support capital cost estimates and project planning.
- Integrate point cloud and geospatial data into design workflows using appropriate software tools.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines (civil, structural, electrical) to ensure design integration and consistency.
Qualifications
- Registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) in British Columbia or eligible for registration.
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from a recognized institution.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and drafting, preferably within the bulk materials handling or heavy industrial sector.
- Proficiency with Solid Works, Revit, Navisworks, and Auto CAD.
- Experience working with lidar point clouds and integrating georeferenced data into 3D models.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to drafting standards and quality deliverables.
Compensation: Base pay range: CA$90,000.00/yr - CA$130,000.00/yr (actual pay based on skills and experience).
