The primary goal of the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is to ensure our patients are receiving high quality, person-centered care that aligns with our values of Dignity, Service, Excellence and Integrity. Our Speech-Language Pathologist is well-versed in the management of chronic diseases that relate to communication, cognition, and swallowing in older adults. SLP performs assessments and implement interventions to help patients re-gain function or compensate for deficits using adaptive strategies. The therapeutic objective is to enhance the quality of life for our patients by improving communication with their loved ones and strengthening their swallowing to ensure sustained, safe nutrition and hydration. Speech-Language Pathologists work as part of an interprofessional team to support slow-paced rehabilitation programming and serve as consultants to other disciplines.
