Technical Inside Sales Specialist – Industrial Products

As a Technical Inside Sales Specialist, you'll be an important part of our sales support team.

You'll work with customers, sales representatives, manufacturers and suppliers to understand technical requirements, source products, prepare quotations and coordinate orders.

Every day brings different products, questions and challenges.

Some requests will be straightforward, while others will require investigation, research and collaboration to find the right solution.

This isn't just an order desk position, and it isn't traditional sales.

We're looking for someone who enjoys the technical side of engineered industrial products while also taking ownership of customer inquiries and orders.

  • Technical Product Support & Problem-Solving
  • Review customer inquiries, RFQs, drawings, datasheets and specifications to determine product requirements.
  • Research industrial products and identify suitable equipment, components and configurations.
  • Work with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain technical information and resolve product questions.
  • Identify practical alternatives when products are unavailable, discontinued or unsuitable.
  • Investigate unfamiliar products and applications to find accurate, reliable solutions.
  • Prepare accurate, professional quotations based on customer requirements and supplier information.
  • Obtain supplier pricing, availability, lead times and technical documentation.
  • Apply pricing and margin requirements when preparing quotations.
  • Communicate with customers and sales representatives regarding inquiries, quotations and product recommendations.
  • Follow up on outstanding quotations and supplier commitments.
  • Order Processing & Coordination
  • Review and process customer purchase orders, ensuring accuracy of part numbers, quantities, specifications and pricing.
  • Coordinate purchasing requirements with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Work with warehouse, logistics and purchasing personnel to support timely order fulfillment.
  • Monitor order status, delivery schedules and outstanding supplier commitments.
  • Resolve order discrepancies and communicate changes to customers.
  • Maintain accurate records in our CRM and business systems.

Requirements

We're looking for someone who combines technical aptitude, strong organizational skills, customer service and a genuine interest in solving problems.

You may be a great fit if you

  • Enjoy researching unfamiliar products and figuring out how things work.
  • Have experience working with industrial products, equipment, components or technical specifications.
  • Can interpret product catalogues, datasheets, drawings and technical information.
  • Have experience preparing quotations, sourcing products or processing customer orders.
  • Are comfortable communicating with customers, manufacturers and suppliers.
  • Understand the importance of pricing accuracy, margins, lead times and attention to detail.
  • Can manage multiple inquiries, quotations and orders while staying organized.
  • Take initiative, follow through on commitments and keep customers informed.
  • Have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, and can learn CRM (Zoho) and business software.
  • Ideally, you'll have
  • 2–3+ years or more of relevant experience in one or more of the following:
  • Technical inside sales or industrial distribution
  • Industrial parts or equipment sales and support
  • Technical customer service or applications support
  • Industrial purchasing, sourcing or quotations
  • Manufacturing, instrumentation or mechanical equipment

Experience with valves, piping, instrumentation, fluid handling equipment, industrial safety products or related technical products would be an asset.

Post-secondary education in engineering technology, instrumentation, mechanical technology, business or a related field is an asset.

Equivalent hands‑on industry experience will also be considered.

You don't need to know every product we sell. What's important is your ability to investigate, learn, ask the right questions and follow through.

  • You're naturally curious and enjoy finding solutions.
  • When a customer asks about an unfamiliar product, you're comfortable researching the information, contacting manufacturers and working through the details.
  • You're organized, accurate and dependable. You understand that a small detail—such as an incorrect part number, specification or delivery date—can make a big difference.
  • You communicate clearly, take ownership of your work and don't let outstanding questions fall through the cracks.
  • Most importantly, you enjoy being part of a team that works together to provide customers with great service and practical solutions.
  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Health, dental and vision benefits
  • Paid flex days
  • Opportunities to expand your technical and product knowledge
  • Exposure to a diverse range of specialized industrial products and applications
