Sprout Social is seeking an experienced Product Manager to own the strategy, delivery, and scaling of our Listening product. This role is responsible for central elements of Sprout’s overall strategy: positioning Listening as a competitive advantage targeting the growing social intelligence market and driving a step change in adoption by Sprout's wider base. This is an individual contributor role requiring deep product leadership skills that can drive a transformation of our Listening product into a best-in-class provider of decision-grade social insights for our target personas.

Our Product team operates at the intersection of strategy, innovation, customer value, and go-to-market collaboration. We are focused on delivering unified, data-driven solutions across our multi-product portfolio. As part of the broader R&D organization, our team collaborates closely with Engineering, Product Design, and Go-to-Market (GTM) teams to create impactful experiences for customers while driving measurable business outcomes. This cross-functional partnership ensures that our products not only meet technical excellence but are also positioned effectively in the market, aligning with customer needs and business growth objectives.

You won’t just help set the vision for Listening; you’ll also play a key role in shaping our overall approach to our wider intelligence strategy, execution, and outcomes. Continuously strengthen a deep understanding of the important jobs and decisions our customers face, how the market services those needs today, strategic trends, and the biggest opportunities for our product strategy and roadmap.

  • Own Listening overall product strategy & roadmap getting org-wide buy-in to the most impactful product bets for investment with clear, trackable pay-off metrics.
  • Partner closely with Engineering to deliver on product bet investments, balancing near-term customer/revenue commitments against longer-term strategic goals.
  • Drive innovative solutions that balance value with risk, effort, and strategic alignment.
  • Collaborate deeply with the pricing and packaging team to optimize pricing strategies for Listening balancing costs, sales, retention, expansion, and multi-product attachment goals.
  • Act as connective tissue with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Experience to ensure product direction and deliveries are centred in customer and market insights.
  • Ensure GTM is delivered to maximise customers and prospects awareness and ability to try and adopt new releases.
  • Establish and continuously improve the feedback signals that can drive future decisions - track customer pipeline, adoption and usage behaviours; competitive landscape, customer feedback, churn, and closed lost drivers.
  • Ensure regular direct customer engagement and provide support to internal customer escalations.
  • Develop strong relationships and effective communications with stakeholders across R&D and wider Sprout.
  • Advocate for Listening’s growth opportunities, influencing and ensuring alignment with wider business goals and priorities.
  • Proactively communicate progress, risks, challenges, and pivots.

You will be continuously challenging yourself and your peers to innovate - exploring new value creation opportunities - from unmet important customer needs to technology innovations and improvements in how we work as a product and wider team.

Within 1 month, you’ll plant your roots, including:

  • Completing Sprout Social’s new hire training & onboarding program alongside other new Sprout team members.
  • Partner with the VP of Product to set initial priorities and align on expectations for your role.
  • Start building relationships with product managers, engineers, and designers in your product team as well as across the broader Product Management team.
  • Immerse yourself in understanding our customers, their jobs to be done, and testing how our product helps them.
  • Get hands-on with Sprout’s products, experiencing them from the customer’s perspective.
  • Establish a working cadence with your engineering partners in the US and Ireland, including how you’ll handle handoffs, async decisions, and the daily overlap window.

Within 3 months, you’ll start hitting your stride by:

  • Partnering with senior product leaders to define key success metrics for your role and teams and how you will measure against them.
  • Participating in planning and roadmap processes and helping to shape the product roadmap for long-term success.
  • Leading day-to-day product execution for your team delivering value to customers.
  • Identifying project goals, contributing to research and delivery, and organizing releases.
  • Understanding the engineering behind the Sprout product well enough that you can predict product trade-offs and ask your team productive questions.
  • Analyzing our qualitative and quantitative research to start forming hypotheses about how our product can better fit our customers’ lives.
  • Facilitating quarterly roadmap planning for your team and representing the plan to the rest of Sprout’s product teams, including executive leadership.
  • Collaborating with other product managers for cross-team problem solving and feature delivery.
  • Developing a strong understanding of Sprout’s wider product portfolio and considering how customers’ workflow spans across them.

Within 6 months, you’ll be making a clear impact through:

  • Becoming the expert in Sprout’s Listening product and confidently speaking to strategy, technical trade-offs, and roadmap with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Owning the Listening roadmap and delivering measurable results on key strategic initiatives.
  • Identifying key opportunities to improve cross-team collaboration and alignment.
  • Standing up working cadences to build and deliver on product roadmap and outcomes in partnership with design, engineering, and GTM teams.

Within 12 months, you’ll make this role your own by:

  • Making strategic recommendations across product, pricing, GTM, and ways of working to drive outsized business impact.
  • Consistently meeting and exceeding established performance targets.
  • Obtaining (solicited and unsolicited) and acting upon peer, customer, and leadership feedback.
  • Being ready to take on new challenges to help your team and the broader PM organization — including things we maybe haven’t even anticipated.
  • Continuing to evolve Sprout’s product culture, shaping the next generation of product managers.
  • Surprising us! Use your unique ideas and abilities to change our ambition for Listening at Sprout in beneficial ways that we’ve never even considered yet!

Of course, what is outlined above is the ideal timeline, but things may shift based on business needs and other projects and tasks could be added at the discretion of your manager.

Benefits:

  • Insurance and benefit options that are built for both individuals and families.
  • Progressive policies to support work/life balance, like our flexible paid time off and parental leave program.
  • High-quality and well-maintained equipment—your computer will never prevent you from doing your best.
  • Wellness initiatives to ensure both health and mental well-being of our team.
  • Ongoing education and development opportunities via our Grow@Sprout program, employee-led diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, and mentorship programs for aspiring leaders.
  • Growing corporate social responsibility program that is driven by the involvement and passion of our team members.
  • Beautiful, convenient, and state-of-the-art offices in Chicago’s Loop and downtown Seattle, for those who prefer an office setting.
