We are looking for a professional and ambitious Risk Specialist to join our Risk Engineering team. The successful candidate will be adept at conducting risk assessments of commercial property risks to identify risks/exposures and sharing this expertise with their underwriting partners. Take your career to the next level by developing your natural ability to see the big picture, think creatively, and challenge the status quo, while working with some of the industry’s leading professionals.

How you will create impact:

  • Complete comprehensive risk assessments of clients’ facilities and operations; identify equipment breakdown exposures, including loss estimates, and provide actionable risk improvement recommendations.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of clients’ pressure equipment in accordance with the Quebec Regulations.
  • Establish positive relationships with clients and maintain strong relationships with internal staff and external service providers.
  • Coaching team members and developing technical resources such as articles, bulletins etc. to support continuous learning.
  • Ensuring assignments are completed in a cost-effective, timely and productive manner in accordance with specified service standards.

To join our team:

  • At least 5 years of experience in Equipment Breakdown Insurance (EBI), Risk Engineering, boiler and pressure vessel inspection, or a related technical field, with commercial insurance experience considered an asset.
  • A degree or diploma in Engineering, Applied Science, Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience.
  • NBBI Commission and/or Certificate in pressure installation inspection (IISP), with an Ontario Certificate of Competency considered an asset (TSSA).
  • Strong knowledge of boilers, pressure vessels and applicable regulatory requirements, risk engineering and loss prevention in EBI, standard equipment maintenance and repair practices.
  • Experience in power generation, mining, oil and gas or similar large industries considered an asset.
  • CIP and/or CRM designation is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in French, along with a good knowledge of English, is essential for carrying out the main duties in this role, including servicing and communicating primarily with majority anglophone and francophone clients, groups, and teams. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.

How you will succeed:

  • You thrive on delivering our exceptional client experience through positive and engaging relationships; embracing accountability to achieve effective results.
  • You ensure your day-to-day actions are in harmony with the company’s purpose, vision, and values even when challenged.
  • You are open and adaptable to changing conditions with a natural curiosity to explore and try new approaches.
  • You value cooperative and collaborative dialogue because diverse perspectives offer more creative and productive solutions.

What you need to know:

  • You will be subject to a Background check as a condition of employment, in the event you are the successful candidate.
  • The nature of this role requires to operate a company’s motor vehicle for business purposes. As such, your employment in this role is conditional upon you providing proof of a valid driver’s license and having a satisfactory driving record as determined by the Company in its sole discretion following a review of your driver’s abstract.

What’s in it for you?

  • Room to grow with confidence — build your career, contribute your ideas, and see the impact of your work.
  • A culture that values you — inclusive, collaborative, and respectful, where different perspectives are encouraged and heard.
  • Support for your well-being — a holistic approach to physical, mental, social, and financial wellness.
  • Pride in purpose — being part of a Canadian organization dedicated to protecting Canadian businesses and the communities they serve while giving back through volunteering, donations, and national initiatives that help build a more sustainable future.
