Perform pathology specimen accessioning and processing as a casual Laboratory Technician in Newmarket, Ontario, supporting surgical, cytology, and flow cytometry services.
Southlake Health seeks one permanent casual Laboratory Technician for its pathology laboratory. The position performs technical and non-technical functions under supervision, including equipment maintenance, inventory, quality control, and team support. MLPAO or CSMLS certification is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accession and process surgical, cytology, and flow cytometry specimens
- Empty and discard pathology specimens and waste appropriately
- Maintain equipment and complete inventory activities
- Train and support staff and student team members
- Perform quality control activities according to established procedures
Requirements:
- MLPAO or CSMLS certification required
- Hospital pathology laboratory experience preferred
- Accreditation process experience considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literacy and effective problem-solving abilities
