Central Communications Operators support Southlake Health through emergency communications, call routing, and patient-facing information services in Newmarket, Ontario. This permanent casual position includes shift work, weekends, and overnights.
Southlake Health seeks an Operator for Central Communications within its administrative and clerical team. You will handle internal and external inquiries, locate physicians, staff, and patients, and guide visitors toward clinic locations and available resources. The work supports hospital operations through emergency activation, paging, and coordinated call handling.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle face-to-face and telephone inquiries at Information services
- Locate physicians, staff, and patients for callers
- Provide clinic locations, operating hours, and resource directions
- Initiate Emergency Codes and support emergent escalations
- Transfer calls and alert on-call teams and contractors
Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 12 education
- One year of current related call centre experience
- Professional, courteous telephone manner and communication skills
- Knowledge of confidentiality and hospital FIPPA laws
- Ability to work shifts, weekends, and overnights
