About the opportunity

Lead electrical engineering projects and oversee technical design and implementation.

Why This Role Stands Out

You'll join an experienced multidisciplinary engineering team specializing in industrial automation, PLCs, SCADA, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor control systems, and custom electrical solutions. Rather than stepping directly into a management role, you'll begin as the team's senior technical authority. You'll lead through technical expertise, mentorship, and influence while helping establish engineering standards and strengthen engineering capability across the Ontario operation. As the engineering team continues to grow, you'll be well positioned to transition into an Engineering Team Lead or Engineering Manager role. If you're someone who enjoys mentoring engineers as much as solving complex technical challenges, you'll find plenty to be excited about here.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead complex electrical engineering projects from concept through implementation.
  • Serve as the senior technical authority for electrical engineering design, product development, and technical decision-making.
  • Design and review motor control systems, MCCs, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), switchgear, power conversion equipment, and industrial automation solutions.
  • Establish engineering standards while driving continuous improvement through DFM, DFX, product lifecycle management, and engineering best practices.
  • Mentor engineers, share technical knowledge, and help develop the next generation of engineering leaders.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Sales, Production, Supply Chain, and Customer Solutions to deliver innovative automation solutions.

What We're Looking For:

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation registered with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). This designation is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electrical Engineering, Automation & Controls, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience involving industrial automation, VFDs, MCCs, switchgear, motor control systems, or power electronics.
  • Strong understanding of PLCs, SCADA, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), industrial motor control systems, and automation.
  • Experience programming Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC platforms. Mitsubishi experience is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN.
  • Experience with DFM, DFX, configurable product design, product lifecycle management, and high-mix, low-volume manufacturing.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication, mentoring, and technical leadership skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base salary of $120,000 to $150,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Annual performance bonus.
  • Extended health and dental benefits.
  • RRSP matching program.
  • Education and professional development funding.
  • Clear career progression into Engineering Team Lead or Engineering Manager.

Why Join?

This isn't about stepping into an established management position on day one. It's about becoming the technical leader the engineering team looks to for guidance, mentorship, and direction. You’ll have the opportunity to influence engineering standards, develop talented engineers, and play a meaningful role in building the next generation of engineering leadership. If you're looking for an opportunity where your technical expertise will have a lasting impact on both the business and the people around you, we'd welcome a confidential conversation. All applications and inquiries will be handled in the strictest confidence.
