Fitch Ratings is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer for its AI Innovation teams in Toronto.
The role focuses on building production-grade generative AI systems and machine learning platforms for financial analysis.
Responsibilities
Design and build generative AI solutions, agentic workflows, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures, and intelligent platforms.
Develop, evaluate, fine-tune, and deploy machine learning models using Python, Py Torch, and large language models.
Lead technical initiatives from design through deployment, establish engineering standards, and make architectural decisions.
Build scalable model APIs, MLOps pipelines, and cloud-based ML infrastructure; support workflows using tools such as Airflow.
Monitor model performance, reliability, governance, and operating costs.
Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with product teams, business stakeholders, and other technical partners.
Qualifications
At least six years of professional experience building and deploying production AI or ML systems.
Hands-on experience with generative AI, LLMs, agentic workflows, and RAG architectures.
Strong Python and machine learning skills, including experience training, fine-tuning, and deploying neural networks with Py Torch.
Experience with MLOps, Docker, Kubernetes or AWS EKS, AWS or Azure, workflow orchestration, and API development.
Bachelor's degree in a related field; a master's degree or Ph D is preferred.
Experience leading technical projects, mentoring colleagues, and communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Compensation
Expected base salary for Toronto roles is CAD $150,000-$200,000. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors. The role may also include other compensation and benefits.
