About the role
Fitch Ratings is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join its Toronto Innovation Tiger Team. This greenfield initiative will build AI-driven systems and platforms to transform financial analysis and analyst workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design and build greenfield agentic systems and intelligent platforms using Java, Spring Boot, React and emerging AI technologies.
- Explore generative AI, LLMs, RAG architectures and intelligent automation; develop proofs of concept and bring promising capabilities into production.
- Define technical vision, architecture, standards and technology choices for AI-driven systems.
- Partner with product, senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver technical solutions.
- Mentor engineers, promote experimentation and balance rapid delivery with engineering quality, including CI/CD practices.
- Help shape the team's culture, operating practices and technical direction.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of hands-on experience building enterprise applications or AI/ML systems.
- Experience designing scalable systems from scratch and making architectural decisions in ambiguous environments.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience driving technical decisions, mentoring engineers and leading initiatives.
- Interest in AI and emerging technologies; hands-on AI/ML experience is an advantage.
Compensation
Expected base salary for Toronto roles is CAD 190,000–240,000 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related factors. Additional compensation and benefits may be available.
The role is based in Toronto and is identified as hybrid.
