This Ottawa vacancy at EllisDon is for a scheduler who has already programmed battery plants, data centres and pharmaceutical facilities, and who can handle the installation, testing and commissioning of complex MEP systems. Eight or more years of construction scheduling are asked for, building work among them, together with P6 and MS Project and the capacity to carry several projects at once.
Preference goes to people who have worked in project controls or on site as a superintendent, project manager, coordinator or field engineer. In the job itself, the successful candidate takes the lead on each baseline and refreshes every live programme fortnightly.
Those refreshes are only as good as the data behind them, and the planner is answerable for checking it, which means going to site from time to time. New changes and unforeseen conditions have to be picked up and modelled, and the planner produces time impact analysis, what-if and micro schedules on request, along with snapshots of actual progress set against the plan.
Clients and trade partners meet the planner at weekly and monthly progress sessions. At bid stage the planner works through the RFP for its programme obligations and prepares the pursuit schedule in Primavera P6, testing durations and logic with superintendents, subtrades or EllisDon’s own productivity data. The post is full time.
