Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT)
Position Summary:
Russell Tobin is seeking experienced and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLTs) to join healthcare teams across British Columbia. The MLT will perform diagnostic laboratory testing, analyze and interpret test results, collect and process biological specimens, operate and maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory tests and analyze blood, body fluids, tissues, and other biological specimens.
- Collect, receive, label, prepare, and process specimens for diagnostic testing.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Conduct routine and specialized diagnostic testing in areas such as hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, transfusion medicine, and immunology, as applicable.
- Analyze and validate test results to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Identify and report abnormal or critical test results to the appropriate healthcare professionals according to established protocols.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or an equivalent recognized qualification.
- Certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS), where required.
- Previous experience working in a clinical or hospital laboratory setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, specimen handling, quality control, and diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and statutory holidays, as required by the facility.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
