About the Role Remitly is looking for a Compliance Operations Analyst to join our Canada team.

You will make sure Remitly meets its Canadian regulatory obligations day to day, with a focus on the Retail Payment Activities Act (RPAA) and FINTRAC requirements.

You will work with Legal, Compliance, Product, Business Management and our global compliance teams to adapt global processes to Canada, track issues to closure, and keep our records audit-ready.

This is the first dedicated role of its kind in Canada.

It suits someone who is curious, likes structure and follow-through, and is comfortable working through ambiguity as priorities change.

What You'll Do

  • Review global-to-regional compliance deliverables (AML policy, risk assessments, BCP plans, SLA metrics) to confirm they meet Canadian regulatory expectations, and help close gaps.
  • Review third-party and vendor performance metrics for Canada, flag SLA breaches, and track escalations and remediation.
  • Act as the local intake point for incidents affecting Canadian customers, and support Compliance and Legal in assessing whether Bank of Canada or FINTRAC notification is required.
  • Maintain RPAA-required records, including the outsourcing register, incident and issue logs, attestations and evidence packs.
  • Track change management items, sub-outsourcing and location changes, and periodic control reviews.
  • Prepare inputs for Canadian governance forums, including risk indicators and status dashboards.
  • Program-manage Canada regulatory and legal projects (such as card, wallet and Real-Time Rail readiness), keeping owners, deadlines and decisions on track across teams.
  • Document how we work, build playbooks, and look for opportunities to automate.
  • Serve as an operational point of contact with Payments Canada on rail requirements (Interac, Real-Time Rail), coordinating with Product, Legal and Compliance.
  • Maintain Canadian annual and periodic regulatory reporting inputs, including the RPAA annual report, FINTRAC registration renewals, and materials supporting the biennial effectiveness review.
  • Support responses to FINTRAC examinations, Bank of Canada supervisory requests and internal audit reviews, coordinating evidence collection, tracking information requests, and following findings through to closure.
  • What You'll Bring
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in compliance, risk, program management or operations at a fintech, payments company, MSB or bank.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian payments regulation, including RPAA, PCMLTFA/FINTRAC and Bank of Canada supervision.
  • Familiarity with Canadian payment rails, including Interac and the Real-Time Rail (RTR), and experience working with Payments Canada.
  • Project or program management experience on regulatory and legal projects, including stepping into work already in motion and moving it forward with cross-functional teams in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail, with a track record of owning recurring processes end to end.
  • Comfort with data: building trackers and reports in Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Clear written communication and good judgment about when to elevate.
  • Ability to work with teams across time zones without formal authority.
  • Curiosity and hands‑on use of AI tools to work faster, analyze information and improve processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Nice to Have, But Not Required Experience with third-party or outsourcing oversight, incident management, or regulatory exams.
  • CAMS, CCAS or a Canadian compliance certification.
