They are seeking a curious, commercially minded Conference Content Manager who has a passion for learning and development, enjoys researching emerging trends, connecting with industry experts, and developing engaging conference programs for professional audiences.

About the Role

The Conference Content Manager will lead the research, planning, and content development of a portfolio of professional development conferences, as well as work to develop offshoot learning experiences. A central focus will be developing approximately eight in-person conferences annually, transforming industry trends, regulatory developments, and professional learning needs into compelling themes, agendas, speaker lineups, and educational experiences. This is a conference content and programming role, rather than an event logistics position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead content strategy and programming for a portfolio of approximately eight in-person professional conferences annually.
  • Research emerging industry trends, regulatory developments, business challenges, and professional learning needs to identify timely conference topics.
  • Develop compelling conference themes, session topics, agendas, and educational programming.
  • Identify, recruit, evaluate, and build relationships with subject matter experts, speakers, industry leaders, academics, and regulators.
  • Conduct speaker briefings, coordinate content development, and manage speaker selection and contracting activities.
  • Analyze market research, member feedback, registration trends, and competitive offerings to continuously improve conference programming.
  • Collaborate with Marketing, Events, Operations, Sponsorship, and Product teams to support successful conference launches and delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to transform conference content into seminars, certificates, on-demand learning, and additional educational products.
  • Manage multiple conference development timelines, priorities, budgets, and stakeholder relationships simultaneously.
  • Contribute to portfolio performance, commercial objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Operating Environment

  • Hybrid schedule with three days per week onsite in Toronto.
  • Collaborative environment involving internal product, marketing, events, sponsorship, and operations teams.
  • Regular engagement with external speakers, industry leaders, subject matter experts, and professional stakeholders.
  • Multiple conference programs and development timelines running concurrently.
  • Opportunity to influence the direction of professional education and learning products.

Success Metrics

  • Development of relevant, engaging, and commercially viable conference programs.
  • Quality and credibility of speakers and subject matter experts.
  • Timely completion of conference programming and content milestones.
  • Conference participation, feedback, and overall portfolio performance.
  • Strength of stakeholder and speaker relationships.
  • Identification of new professional development opportunities.

Qualifications Required

  • Approximately 5+ years of experience in professional conference programming, content development, professional education, market research, journalism, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience researching complex topics and translating findings into compelling content, programs, agendas, or educational experiences.
  • Experience developing conference themes, agendas, speaker programs, or professional learning content.
  • Strong ability to identify, engage, interview, and build relationships with senior-level subject matter experts and industry professionals.
  • Excellent writing, research, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong project management capabilities, with the ability to manage multiple programs, timelines, and competing priorities.
  • Commercial awareness and the ability to consider audience demand, participation, and revenue opportunities.
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Education, or a related discipline.

Preferred

  • Experience developing content for professional associations, regulatory bodies, conference organizations, publishers, media companies, or continuing education providers.
  • Familiarity with business, finance, accounting, regulatory, or professional services audiences.
  • Experience developing educational products beyond conferences, including seminars, certificates, or on-demand learning.
  • Master of Education.
