Our client is seeking an experienced, highly proactive Senior Scrum Master (Security & Reporting / Hybrid Agile-Waterfall) to join their global Human Capital Management (HCM) technology and operations organization. In this strategic, hands-on delivery role, you will facilitate and coach two dedicated operational squads within a large-scale Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment: Workday Security and Workday Reporting. Operating within a hybrid Agile/Waterfall framework and a highly governed global enterprise environment, you will combine expert Scrum/SAFe facilitation with a strong project management mindset. You will oversee custom report delivery, access and security role management, tenant refreshes, and release compliance while managing dependencies across distributed global teams in North America, India, and other offshore locations.
Duration: 6-Month Contract (Full-time engagement)
Advantages:
- Global Enterprise Leadership Scope: Guide key operational squads responsible for global platform security, tenant health, and executive reporting across a major enterprise footprint.
- Hybrid Agile & PM Hybrid Exposure: Uniquely blend SAFe/Scrum team coaching with hands-on project management, capacity planning, and delivery execution.
- Complex Multi-Geography Environment: Gain valuable experience directing cross-functional, globally distributed engineering and business teams across multiple time zones.
- High Business & Operations Visibility: Partner directly with Business Partners, Global Payroll, IT Security, and Enterprise Compliance leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Squad Facilitation & Agile Ceremonies: Lead end-to-end Agile events (daily stand-ups, iteration planning, retrospectives, story sizing, and backlog refinement) for the Workday Security and Workday Reporting squads.
- Hybrid Project Management & Planning: Put together "mini project plans" to track complex, project-based epic deliverables, manage critical path dependencies, and oversee risk mitigation across business partners.
- Proactive Standup Coaching: Actively engage and challenge the team during daily standups, providing guidance on estimation, capacity planning, and story sizing to maximize sprint throughput and business value.
- Impediment Removal & Risk Governance: Proactively identify and clear delivery blockers, navigate heavy enterprise governance structures, and maintain strict audit and compliance standards for core financial and HR data systems.
- SAFe & ART Alignment: Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning, Scrum of Scrums, and Release Train Engineer (RTE) synchronization sessions, managing cross-team dependencies across the broader Agile Release Train (ART).
- Metrics & Leadership Reporting: Track and report sprint velocity, burndown charts, and baseline KPIs to senior leadership while ensuring transparent communication across global stakeholder groups.
Qualifications:
- Agile & Delivery Depth: 8+ years of professional experience operating as a Scrum Master or Agile Delivery Lead in a large-scale, enterprise Agile environment.
- Hybrid Delivery Expertise: Proven track record combining SAFe/Scrum facilitation with strong traditional project management capabilities (milestone tracking, risk logs, mini-project plans).
- Global Team Experience: Demonstrated experience working within large, matrixed global organizations with distributed teams and contractors across multiple geographies and cultures.
- Governance & Compliance Track Record: Comfort navigating highly regulated, heavily governed corporate environments with strict release management, audit, and compliance guidelines.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or equivalent practical IT delivery experience.
Ideal Candidate Profile & Mindset:
- Proactive & Self-Motivated: Takes immediate initiative to find operational efficiencies and drive continuous improvement without needing step-step direction.
- Business-Driven Engagement: Comfortable collaborating directly with business, payroll, and functional stakeholders to understand functional requests and ask probing questions during standups.
- Certifications (Preferred Assets): Active SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or PMP credentials.
If you are a tech-savvy Senior Scrum Master who pairs 8+ years of Agile experience with strong project management rigor, a proactive mindset, and a proven ability to navigate heavy governance across global teams, this 6-month contract opportunity is an ideal next step.
