Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced AI Research Scientist to advance cutting-edge Computer Vision (CV) and Generative AI (GenAI) technologies within an innovative AI research team. This organization develops industry-leading augmented reality and artificial intelligence solutions used by some of the world's most influential beauty brands, including real-time 3D makeup and skincare simulation, skin diagnostics, and hair colour visualization. In this role, you will conduct original research, develop advanced AI models and algorithms, and push the boundaries of generative media technology. You will work closely with a talented team of AI researchers and engineers, translating research breakthroughs into scalable, production-ready solutions.

What You'll Own:

  • Conduct original, publishable research that advances the state of the art in Computer Vision and Generative AI.
  • Design, develop, train, fine-tune, and experiment with advanced CV and GenAI models and algorithms.
  • Develop innovative approaches to generative media, with a focus on model performance, efficiency, and quality.
  • Architect AI models and systems optimized for on-device and cloud-based inference.
  • Translate research findings into robust, scalable, production-ready AI solutions in collaboration with engineering and MLOps teams.
  • Write efficient, maintainable Python code and contribute to the development, debugging, and performance optimization of machine learning systems.
  • Explore emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities to integrate new techniques into existing products and capabilities.
  • Mentor AI interns and collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance research initiatives.
  • Communicate complex research findings and technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to research publications, intellectual property development, and the broader AI research community.

What We're Looking For:

  • A Master's or PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field, with a PhD preferred.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience in AI research, with deep hands-on expertise in Computer Vision and Generative AI.
  • A strong research background, ideally with publications demonstrating original contributions to the field.
  • Extensive experience training, fine-tuning, and experimenting with AI models rather than simply integrating existing models as black-box solutions.
  • Exceptional Python programming skills and proficiency in deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Strong understanding of generative media applications and current advancements in GenAI.
  • Experience across the machine learning lifecycle, including model development, experimentation, debugging, optimisation, and deployment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop novel algorithms and evaluate research outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex mathematical and scientific concepts to diverse audiences.

Interested? If you're passionate about advancing the frontiers of Computer Vision and Generative AI and want to turn original research into real-world applications, we'd love to hear from you. This is an opportunity to join a talented research team, contribute to innovative AI-powered visual technologies, and make a meaningful impact in a rapidly evolving field.

All applications are reviewed by our recruitment team, and hiring decisions are made by people. We may also use AI-enabled tools to support parts of the application review process.
