On behalf of our Consulting client, Procom is searching for a Data Platform Lead for a 6 month contract role. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Toronto office.
The client is building out a modern data platform and internal data team from a third-party-delivered foundation. They need a seasoned data engineering leader to take ownership of the Fabric lakehouse and pipelines, advise on architecture and platform decisions, and mentor the team as they grow.
Responsibilities:
- Own and extend the Fabric data lake: pipelines, ingestion, orchestration, semantic models, data quality.
- Manage enterprise-scale integrations across Salesforce, NetSuite, marketing platforms, and bespoke apps via APIs and ETL.
- Take over the partner-built environment, document it, stabilize it, and own it going forward.
- Build scalable, well-governed data infrastructure with attention to standards, source control, CI/CD, and DevOps.
- Advise on architecture, performance, reliability, and platform decisions—and hold the line on good practice.
- Support the build-out of Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and executive reports.
- Lead customer and sales reporting first; expand to other business functions as priorities evolve.
- Align business and technical teams around data definitions, requirements, and frameworks.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers and analysts as they’re hired.
Mandatory Skills:
- 8+ years in data engineering, analytics engineering, or platform building.
- Strong SQL, data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and lakehouse design.
- Hands-on Fabric experience or very deep Azure (ADF/Synapse).
- Enterprise-scale data pipelines and integrations.
- Python and/or R, source control, and DevOps.
- Consultative and advisory skills.
- Stakeholder and people skills.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Salesforce, NetSuite, or ERP/CRM integration experience.
- Fabric, Azure, or data engineering certifications.
- Experience building or scaling a data team from the ground up.
- Advanced analytics: forecasting, predictive modelling, ML or AI.
- Microsoft Purview governance experience.
Assignment Length: This is a 6 month contract position.
Start Date: ASAP.
Assignment Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This is a hybrid role with 3 days in the office.
