About Precision AI
Precision AI is on a mission to transform agriculture with cutting‑edge drone technology.
Our aerial spraying systems help farmers target weeds with surgical precision, reducing chemical use and increasing yields.
We’re a fast‑moving, impact‑driven team looking for people who want to help build the future of farming.
Role Overview
The Electronics Technician at Precision AI will build, test, and repair the electrical assemblies that power our precision spraying technologies.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who is comfortable at the bench and on the hardware, and who knows when to bring an engineer in to solve a problem.
You will help turn engineering designs into reliable, repeatable builds.
You will report to our Lead Technical Program Manager and work closely with our hardware and electrical engineers, who will provide the designs, drawings, and technical direction for your work.
This role is based in Calgary and will work from Precision AI’s headquarters five days a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly & Build
- Build wiring harnesses and electrical assemblies for UAV subsystems, test rigs, and prototype platforms from schematics and harness drawings.
- Solder, crimp, and terminate wires and connectors to a consistently high standard.
- Route and secure harnesses within the aircraft with attention to vibration, strain relief, and serviceability.
- Testing, Troubleshooting & Rework
- Perform continuity, insulation, and functional tests on harnesses and assemblies before and after installation.
- Use a multimeter and other basic test equipment to diagnose faults such as shorts, loose connections, and connector failures.
- Repair and rework assemblies in the lab and in the field.
- Escalate issues beyond basic troubleshooting to engineers, with clear measurements and observations.
- Documentation & Quality
- Maintain labeling, build records, and revision tracking for the assemblies you build.
- Contribute to checklists and work instructions that improve build quality and repeatability.
- Relevant Experience
- Hands‑on experience building wiring harnesses or electronic assemblies, ideally in aerospace, robotics, automotive, or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Proficient with soldering, crimping, wire stripping, and basic hand tools.
- Able to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness drawings.
- Working knowledge of basic electronics, including what to measure and what the readings mean, so you can describe a problem clearly to an engineer.
- Experience debugging electrical issues on real hardware, such as shorts, loose connections, and connector failures.
- Strong attention to detail, with good judgment on when to escalate and clear communication when you do.
- Diploma or certificate in electronics technology or a related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
- Bonus
- IPC/WHMA-A-620 or IPC J-STD-001 certification.
- Familiarity with UAVs, RC aircraft, or robotics hardware operating in outdoor or high‑vibration environments.
- Experience with oscilloscopes or basic PCB rework.
- Experience supporting field testing or field repairs.
- Equal Employment Opportunity
All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability, or any other status protected by law.
