The Engineering Service Business Unit focuses on power system software development, power system and substation consulting studies, compliance testing services, and asset management solutions for electric utilities and other clients in the power industry. We are the vendor of the cutting-edge power system analysis software package, DSATools™, recognized globally for dynamic security assessment of large complex power systems for both off-line (system planning) and on-line applications (near-real-time operation). We provide a full spectrum of study services including:

  • Fast electromagnetic transient switching studies
  • Power system planning and operation studies (transient, small-signal, voltage, and frequency stabilities)
  • Post-mortem investigation of system disturbances and events
  • Generation and load interconnection studies
  • Generator modeling including wind and solar renewables
  • Load model development or validation via field testing
  • NERC compliance studies (e.g., TPL, PRC, MOD, CIP, etc.)

We are equipped with a Real-Time Digital Simulator (RTDS) for evaluating and testing new control, protection, and communication schemes and devices. The Senior Power System Modelling Engineer will perform model validation and control tuning for generation plants, including wind, solar, and energy storage systems, as well as conducting validation and simulation studies in compliance with NERC and other applicable reliability standards.
