A rapidly growing technology company based in Kimberley is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer specializing in backend and API development. Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure backend services and APIs. Implement and adhere to API design best practices (e.g., RESTful principles). Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and maintainable code. Collaborate with frontend developers and product teams to define API requirements and integrations. Develop and manage database schemas and optimize database queries. Implement automated tests (unit, integration, end-to-end) to ensure code quality. Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback. Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues and performance bottlenecks. Contribute to architectural discussions and decisions. Stay current with emerging backend technologies and best practices. Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in backend software development. Strong proficiency in one or more backend programming languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, Go, or C#. Extensive experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs. Solid understanding of database technologies (SQL and/or NoSQL). Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus. Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker) is advantageous. Familiarity with microservices architecture patterns. Proficiency with version control systems like Git. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
