About the Role Our client, a leading biopharmaceutical company with a strong focus on innovative therapies, is seeking an experienced and highly scientific Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) . This pivotal role will cover the Kimberley, Northern Cape region and surrounding areas, operating on a hybrid model that combines significant field-based activity with remote administrative tasks. The Senior MSL will serve as a key scientific expert, building relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals, and facilitating the exchange of complex medical and scientific information related to the company's therapeutic areas. You will be the scientific voice of the company in the field, contributing to medical strategy and knowledge dissemination.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a regional medical strategy aligned with global medical affairs objectives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with KOLs, researchers, and healthcare providers in assigned therapeutic areas.
Present complex scientific and clinical data on company products and pipeline.
Respond to unsolicited medical information requests from healthcare professionals.
Identify potential clinical investigators and research sites for company-sponsored studies.
Gather insights from KOLs and the medical community to inform company strategies.
Facilitate peer-to-peer scientific exchange and educational programs.
Represent the company at scientific congresses, advisory boards, and other medical meetings.
Collaborate with internal teams, including R&D, clinical operations, and marketing, to ensure alignment of scientific communication.
Provide scientific and clinical expertise to internal teams, including training and development.
Ensure compliance with all relevant industry codes, guidelines, and company policies.
Requirements
An advanced degree (Pharm.D., M.D., Ph.D.) in a relevant scientific or clinical discipline.
A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Medical Science Liaison or in a related medical affairs role (e.g., clinical research, medical affairs management).
Deep understanding of the assigned therapeutic area(s) and relevant scientific literature.
Proven ability to establish and maintain strong relationships with KOLs and healthcare professionals.
Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field-based and remote hybrid role.
Demonstrated understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in the pharmaceutical industry.
Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region and occasionally nationally.
Must be legally authorized to work in South Africa.
