About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Industrial Design Architect to join their dynamic team in Kimberley, Northern Cape. This specialized role involves the design and planning of industrial facilities, manufacturing plants, and logistical hubs. You will be instrumental in creating functional, safe, and efficient environments that support complex industrial operations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of industrial processes, material handling systems, structural requirements, and stringent safety regulations. Working within the growing industrial sector of the Northern Cape, you will contribute to key infrastructure projects. This hybrid position allows for flexible work arrangements, combining collaborative office time in Kimberley with focused remote work, fostering a productive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architectural design for industrial facilities, including factories, warehouses, and processing plants.
- Develop detailed design solutions, integrating machinery, circulation, and operational requirements.
- Collaborate with process engineers, structural engineers, and specialist consultants.
- Ensure designs comply with industrial safety standards, environmental regulations, and building codes.
- Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
- Conduct site analysis, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for industrial sites.
- Manage project lifecycles from concept development to construction completion.
- Oversee site supervision and ensure adherence to design intent and safety protocols.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders throughout the project duration.
- Mentor junior architects and technical staff.
Requirements
- A Master's degree in Architecture or a related engineering field with an architectural focus.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in architectural design, with a significant specialization in industrial projects.
- Proven experience in designing and managing industrial facilities.
- Proficiency in architectural and engineering design software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks).
- Strong understanding of industrial processes, material handling, and site logistics.
- Knowledge of relevant South African industrial building codes and safety regulations in the Northern Cape.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and multidisciplinary teams.
- A robust portfolio showcasing successful industrial architecture projects.
- Professional registration with SACAP is required.
