Our client, a leading specialist geotechnical engineering firm, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their operations in Kimberley . This vital role will focus on providing expert geotechnical solutions for both major infrastructure projects and the unique demands of the mining sector in the Northern Cape . Your responsibilities will encompass site investigations, foundation design for heavy industrial structures, slope stability analysis, and ground improvement techniques. Plan, execute, and interpret detailed geotechnical investigations for diverse project types. Provide expert advice on foundation design for large-scale civil and mining-related structures, including deep foundations and pad foundations. Conduct advanced slope stability analyses, seepage, and settlement assessments for engineered slopes and excavations. Develop designs for ground improvement techniques where required. Prepare comprehensive geotechnical investigation reports, design recommendations, and risk assessments. Liaise effectively with clients, project managers, contractors, and regulatory bodies. Oversee and provide technical guidance during the construction phase, ensuring adherence to design specifications. Contribute to tender preparation, proposals, and business development activities. Ensure all geotechnical work complies with South African National Standards (SANS) and relevant industry best practices. Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior geotechnical engineers and technicians. Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering. Master's degree is highly preferred. Professional registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng). Minimum of 7 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience, with demonstrable experience in both infrastructure and mining projects. Proficiency in geotechnical design and analysis software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio suite, SLOPE/W, SEEP/W). Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and foundation engineering principles. Experience with various site investigation techniques (CPT, SPT, geophysical methods). Excellent report writing, communication, and presentation skills. Proven ability to manage project deliverables, timelines, and client expectations. Willingness to travel to project sites within the Northern Cape province. A valid driver's license. Benefits
