About the Role
Our client, a distinguished engineering consultancy firm, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer specializing in Infrastructure to join their expanding team. This role is based in Kimberley, Northern Cape , and involves leading the design and project management of significant infrastructure projects, including roads, bridges, water supply systems, and wastewater management. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of civil engineering principles, extensive project management experience, and a proven ability to lead design teams and deliver projects on time and within budget. This hybrid role allows for a flexible work arrangement, balancing on-site project engagement with remote office work. We are looking for a motivated professional who is committed to delivering innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions for the Kimberley region and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of civil infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
- Manage project lifecycles from conceptualization through to completion, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Oversee and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, providing guidance and support.
- Conduct site investigations, feasibility studies, and impact assessments.
- Prepare technical reports, drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
- Liaise with clients, government authorities, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
- Perform quality control checks and site supervision during construction phases.
- Identify and mitigate project risks.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, materials, and methodologies in civil engineering.
- Contribute to business development and proposal writing efforts.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) registration with ECSA or eligibility for registration.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in civil engineering, with a strong focus on infrastructure design and project management.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., roads, water, sanitation).
- Proficiency in relevant engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and structural analysis tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Strong understanding of contract administration and construction methods.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work model, demonstrating self-discipline and time management.
- Demonstrated commitment to sustainable design practices.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Kimberley, Northern Cape .
