Pinchin is seeking an Intermediate‑Senior Civil Engineer to join our Emissions Reduction and Compliance team in Mississauga, ON. The role reports to the Operations Manager. This role supports a broad range of civil infrastructure assignments, with emphasis on linear infrastructure, functional servicing design, mining water infrastructure, and water or wastewater treatment systems for industrial, commercial, institutional, and mining clients.

Role Overview: This position is intended for an engineer with approximately 8+ years of design experience who is operating at an advanced intermediate level and transitioning into senior responsibility. The successful candidate will be expected to take technical ownership of civil infrastructure assignments, including servicing strategies, site development works, mine water management infrastructure, and treatment-related design support, while working within Pinchin’s structured project execution and peer‑review framework.

Your Impact as an Engineer: In this role, you will be relied upon for technical depth, practical design judgment, and project delivery support across civil and water infrastructure assignments:

  • Undertake and support the design of civil infrastructure projects for industrial, commercial, institutional, and mining clients.
  • Prepare and review functional servicing designs and reports, grading and drainage concepts, and site servicing strategies for development and infrastructure projects.
  • Plan, design, and assess linear infrastructure, including storm, sanitary, water, and mine water conveyance systems.
  • Support mining water infrastructure design, including collection and conveyance systems, pumping, storage and treatment-related infrastructure, discharge systems, and water management facilities.
  • Apply hydraulic, hydrologic, and civil design analysis to site servicing, drainage, water balance, conveyance, and treatment infrastructure assignments.
  • Develop design concepts, calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports suitable for client review, permitting, tendering, and construction support.
  • Evaluate and design infrastructure for water and wastewater treatment systems, including civil works associated with tanks, process buildings, pumping systems, chemical handling areas, outfalls, and related site services.
  • Coordinate with process, environmental, geotechnical, hydrogeological, structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines to develop integrated infrastructure solutions.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and permit-support materials for municipalities, regulators, mining clients, and private-sector owners.
  • Support construction‑phase services, including shop drawing review, responses to contractor questions, site reviews, deficiency tracking, and record documentation.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff and participate in internal quality reviews and multidisciplinary design coordination.
  • Contribute technical input to proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and project delivery planning, as required.

Core Areas of Practice:

  • Functional servicing and site civil design for ICI and mining projects.
  • Linear infrastructure design for conveyance, servicing, access, drainage, and utility systems.
  • Mining water infrastructure, including collection, pumping, storage, treatment support, and discharge systems.
  • Civil infrastructure associated with water, wastewater, and process‑water treatment systems.

What You’ll Bring to Pinchin: The ideal candidate is a technically strong and professionally mature civil engineer with hands‑on infrastructure design experience across concept development, detailed design, permitting, tendering, and construction support. They can translate client needs and site constraints into practical, constructible solutions while collaborating effectively with clients, regulators, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams. They are ready to grow into senior technical, mentorship, and project delivery responsibilities and thrive in a positive, close‑knit team environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Environmental Engineering with a strong civil infrastructure focus may also be considered.
  • 8+ years of design experience in civil infrastructure, functional servicing, linear infrastructure, water infrastructure, or treatment‐related projects.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO), or eligibility to obtain registration in Ontario.
  • Experience supporting industrial, commercial, institutional, and mining infrastructure projects.
  • Practical knowledge of functional servicing design, site grading, drainage, stormwater management, sanitary servicing, water servicing, and utility coordination.
  • Experience with linear infrastructure design, including pipelines, sewers, watermains, culverts, ditches, channels, access roads, and associated appurtenances.
  • Experience with mining water infrastructure, including mine water collection, conveyance, pumping, storage, treatment support infrastructure, discharge, and water balance considerations.
  • Familiarity with water and wastewater treatment infrastructure design, including civil works, process support infrastructure, hydraulics, containment, access, and constructability considerations.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D; experience with hydraulic or hydrologic modelling, GIS, MicroStation, OpenRoads, or other design platforms is an asset.
  • Solid understanding of applicable municipal standards, provincial requirements, MECP approvals, conservation authority expectations, and industry best practices.
