Vancouver Chinatown Foundation Chief Operating Officer The Vancouver Chinatown Foundation has built something unusual: a community platform that brings together affordable housing and housing operations, heritage and culture, economic development, placemaking, events and social enterprise in service of one of Canada’s most historic neighbourhoods.

The platform is built. The next chapter is about scale, integration and execution.

VCF is looking for a Chief Operating Officer who can help turn an ambitious portfolio into an equally strong organization — a builder and operator who can develop leaders, create operating discipline and make the whole greater than the sum of its parts.

Reporting to the CEO, the COO will be the Foundation’s senior operational leader and a key partner in translating ambition into execution.

The role brings together a diverse portfolio — fund development, marketing and communications, housing, events and facilities, the Chinatown Storytelling Centre, economic development and retail operations — and leads the Directors and Managers responsible for delivering it.

The opportunity is not simply to oversee these functions.

It is to build the operating system that connects them: clear priorities and accountabilities, strong leaders, coordinated plans, disciplined budgets, useful performance measures and a culture that follows through.

We are looking for an organizational builder who has made a complex organization work better — and can point to the results.

You may have scaled a growing enterprise, integrated multiple business or program lines, professionalized operations, built a strong management team, or led through a period of significant growth and change.

You will know how to give talented leaders both clarity and room to lead.

You will be comfortable moving between strategy and execution, financial discipline and people leadership, internal systems and external relationships.

You will bring sound judgement, low ego and a bias toward getting important things done.

Your background could be in the nonprofit, cultural, hospitality, tourism, real estate/community development or broader private sector.

Sector matters less than the track record: building organizations, developing people, managing complexity and delivering measurable results.

A genuine connection to VCF’s mission and respect for the community it serves are essential.

The targeted salary range for this position is $150k – $170k annually, supplemented by a comprehensive benefits package.

If you have been looking for an operating role where organizational performance and community impact are inseparable, this is it.

You will help build the organization behind one of Canada’s most ambitious community revitalization efforts — and help ensure Vancouver’s Chinatown remains a vibrant, living neighbourhood for generations to come.
