Nene Park Trust is the registered charity responsible for Ferry Meadows and the wider Nene Park estate. We celebrate arts, heritage, wellbeing and community, and share our expertise across the sector to help bring new greenspaces to life.

We are looking for a Director of Commercial Strategy & Development to develop the Trust’s income-generating strategy. The role will strengthen existing commercial operations while identifying and pursuing innovative new opportunities.

The Director of Commercial Strategy & Delivery is a Strategic Leadership Team role responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive commercial growth strategy that increases, diversifies and future‑proofs income across the Trust.

Who we are Established in 1988, Nene Park Trust is a registered charity dedicated to managing and protecting over 1,700 acres of parkland to the west of Peterborough forever.

Our estate is a rich tapestry of meadows, woodlands, lakes and the River Nene, comprising six distinct areas, including the beloved Ferry Meadows. We operate under a 999‑year lease with a core mission to provide exceptional facilities for recreation, education and leisure while safeguarding our diverse wildlife.

As an Investors in People Gold Level organisation, we pride ourselves on a culture that empowers and supports our staff. Our strategy, ‘Doing More with More’, guides our journey to enhance visitor services and leverage our charitable status for the benefit of the region.

We envision Nene Park as a regional sanctuary where heritage and culture meet nature. By joining us, you become part of a committed team that values inclusivity and strives to make a real difference in the lives of the people of Peterborough.

Nene Park Trust is entering a significant period of growth and development. As we continue to enhance our environmental, visitor and community impact, we are seeking an accomplished commercial leader to help shape and deliver our long‑term financial sustainability.

This role combines strategic leadership, commercial development and complex stakeholder engagement. The post-holder will identify and convert new commercial opportunities, optimise existing revenue streams, oversee a pipeline of major commercial developments, and build strategic partnerships that generate both financial return and public benefit.

As part of the senior leadership team, this newly created role replaces the Head of Parks Consultancy, who is retiring in 2027. Working across the Trust and alongside the CEO, CFO, Board and senior colleagues, the Director will ensure that commercial activity remains aligned with the Trust’s charitable purpose, values and long‑term strategic ambitions.

Success in this role will be measured not only by income growth but by the creation of sustainable commercial models that enable the Trust to deliver lasting environmental, social and economic impact.

Who we are looking for We are looking for a senior commercial leader with a proven track record of delivering sustainable income growth, developing strategic partnerships and leading complex commercial and capital projects. You will bring strong strategic, financial and people leadership skills, with the ability to provide effective advice and recommendations at Board level.

Significant senior leadership experience within a commercial, business development, enterprise, property, infrastructure, visitor attraction, leisure or comparable environment. Proven track record of delivering substantial revenue growth and income diversification. Experience developing and implementing successful commercial or growth strategies. Experience leading complex commercial negotiations and strategic partnerships. Experience preparing and presenting business cases, investment proposals and strategic recommendations at Board level. Experience managing large‑scale commercial, capital or development projects. Experience leading and developing high‑performing teams. Strong track record of financial management, budgeting and commercial decision‑making.
