Support student learning and safety as a Certified Education Assistant at Dr. Kearney Middle School, working Thursdays and Fridays.
Reporting to Administrative Officer(s), you will work under classroom teacher and District personnel direction. The position supports educational programs for students with educational, emotional, and behavioural needs. Work includes special needs students, youth with learning disabilities, and modified or alternate programs, primarily in classrooms, with occasional pull-out support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional support and feedback on daily student work
- Implement behaviour management and intensive intervention programs
- Operate computers, audiovisual equipment, and adaptive technology
- Record academic and behavioural assessment data for teachers
- Provide personal care, health, and physical safety assistance
Requirements:
- Education Assistant Certificate with documented specialized training
- Grade 12 or equivalent education
- Formal POPARD training or relevant experience
- Current CPI status and possibly Level 1 First Aid
- Ability to remain calm and build positive student relationships
